The potential to stumble upon antlers, fossils, and artifacts provides another strong motivation to search along the limestone and sandstone rock layers of the Flagstaff Hinterlands. Here are some of the cooler ones we've come across these last few years while wandering around the forests and desert...
Nautilus fossil near the Blue Ridge Reservoir.
First set of matching browns! Found together in March 2024 near Chevelon Crossing.
Brown gold! Still had some bloody flesh around the coronets.
Little elk skull with antlers found in Mccarthy Draw. Not the best quality but still a cool find.
Nice 6-point brownie Hoch spotted while we were hiking through the Mccarthy Draw. We couldn't find the match...
Petroglyphs in Chevelon Canyon.
Bear skull we found a few years ago in the Grey Havens.
Nice big 6-pointer from this past year. Went back twice to find its twin with no luck...
The mega find of 2025. Huge 6 point deadhead in great condition. Psyched!
Awesome arrowhead spotted by my friend while we were hiking through Anderson Canyon.
Nice 5-point brownie found in Bear Canyon. Near perfect condition.
